Though its almost two years until 2019 defensive line prospect Rashad Cheney can sign with a university, he already knows where he wants to go.

The Atlanta native pledged his services to the Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday, per a report from Rivals.com. The 6-foot-4 athlete also had offers from Tennessee and LSU.

Cheney divulged his reasoning behind the commitment:

“Since Georgia offered me, coach [Dell] McGee has been calling my coach about me non-stop. I got to school Thursday morning and I talked to coach McGee immediately. He was telling me to come do big things at Georgia. I decided Thursday that I would commit to Georgia. At first, my dad and I thought it would be good to wait, but then we decided to go ahead with it. I know Georgia is where I want to go and it feels great.

To call myself a Georgia commit is something I am very proud of. So many kids at my school last year were telling me to transfer because you cannot get to college from here, that you cannot go anywhere, and now I am proving them wrong. I am so happy right now.”

Cheney is a big, good-looking athlete with plenty of time to develop and grow. Until he steps foot in Athens, he still will be a recruitable athlete. It certainly won’t stop other schools from pursuing Cheney.

With that said, head coach Kirby Smart and his staff did exceptionally well to land this talented prospect. Cheney is the third public pledge from Georgia in the 2019 class.
