Georgia leads the country in way-too-early Top 25 rankings for 2024 season
Georgia didn’t make the College Football Playoff this season, and responded by going out and completely dismantling Florida State in the Orange Bowl. The win made it three consecutive seasons with at least 13 victories. Georgia also wrapped its sixth season in eight years under Kirby Smart with double-digit wins.
As far as safe bets go in preseason polls, it doesn’t get much better than Georgia.
So The Action Network’s Brett McMurphy took the safe route with his first way-too-early Top 25 for the 2024 season. Nevermind the 2023 season officially ends on Monday and McMurphy put his ranking out on Sunday. Georgia landed the top spot with Michigan at No. 2, Oregon at No. 3, Alabama at No. 4, and Ohio State at No. 5.
Georgia’s offense will be powered next season by a dynamic backfield. Trevor Etienne is transferring in from Florida to partner with quarterback Carson Beck.
The Bulldogs have to replace key pieces the same as anyone, but few reload quite like the Bulldogs, who signed the No. 1 class in the country in 2024, the No. 2 class in 2023, the No. 3 class in 2022, and the No. 3 class in 2021.
In a new-look SEC, Georgia will look to get back to the conference title game for a fourth consecutive season.
