Georgia didn’t get the news it wanted on Sunday as it was left out of the College Football Playoff top 4.

The result of that decision is Georgia will now face ACC Champion Florida State in the Orange Bowl later this month to close out the 2023 season.

This will be a matchup of 2 programs who feel they deserve to have been included in the College Football Playoff this season.

Florida State is 13-0 and is now the only undefeated power-5 champion to ever be left out of the Playoff. Georgia went 12-1 this season with its only loss coming to No. 3 Alabama during the SEC Championship Game. The Bulldogs had won 29 games in a row prior to that defeat.

With both of these rosters being loaded with NFL talent, it’s unclear if either team will have their full compliment of players available for this game. Players will likely make NFL and transfer portal decisions over the coming weeks.

Georgia is 6-4-1 all-time against FSU. These programs haven’t met since Jan. 1, 2003 when the Bulldogs defeated FSU in the Sugar Bowl.

The game will be broadcast on Dec. 30 and 4 p.m. ET on ESPN
