Georgia QB JT Daniels has been dealing with a core injury this week during practice. While it isn’t expected to be serious, it is enough to hold him out of Saturday’s home opener against UAB, it seems.

On Saturday afternoon, ahead of kickoff, Stetson Bennett IV was announced as the starting quarterback in the stadium.

That is a bit of a surprise, as coach Kirby Smart recently named Carson Beck the backup to Daniels, but it’s Bennett who will seemingly start on Saturday:

Bennett has experience starting for Georgia, starting several games last year while Daniels was working his way back from a knee injury.

With Georgia’s elite defense, the Bulldogs likely won’t need to score too many points to win. We’ll see how Bennett fares on Saturday and if Daniels is ready to go this time next week.
