Georgia is going with Greyson Lambert for its Week 1 contest against No. 22 North Carolina.

Sources told DawgNation.com’s Chip Towers that the graduate transfer has won out over freshman sensation Jacob Eason.

A graduate transfer from Virginia, Lambert led the Bulldogs to a 10-win season in 2015 (10-3), starting all games except Florida, a 27-3 loss with Faton Bauta at the helm. Lambert threw for 1,959 yards and 12 touchdowns in 12 starts last season.

Eason, the top quarterback of the 2016 class, enrolled early and was a standout performer in Georgia’s spring game, going 19-of-29 for 244 yards and a touchdown. The rookie signal-caller broke his Twitter silence last night in what was seen as a possible reference to Smart’s decision. The tweet, which has since been removed, read “Trust his plan. Trust the process.”

The quarterback competition has been the talk of Georgia’s offseason, with everyone from Fran Tarkenton to Aaron Murray weighing in on whether the senior or the freshman should take the first snap.
