Georgia QB announces transfer to Big 12 squad
The Georgia Bulldogs have lost a couple of big-name quarterbacks the last two seasons — Jacob Eason to Washington and Justin Fields to Ohio State.
On Wednesday, it was announced that they were losing another quarterback — this time 2018 walk-on QB Matthew Downing.
As you can see in the Twitter post below, Downing revealed that he’d be heading to TCU to play in the 2019 season and beyond:

Downing is a native of Alpharetta, Georgia. He was not rated by 247Sports as a member of the 2018 class.
The Bulldogs brought back former walk-on QB Stetson Bennett this offseason, so Jake Fromm isn’t the only one left in the quarterback room at this point.
I hope he can see the field some out there in Fort Worth. He was a serviceable third guy but UGA has better options with higher ceilings now. He made some throws (the few times he actually threw) that really impressed me.
The real story here is the fans.
How many of our fans understood at the end of last season, that we would service TCU, Washington and Ohio State with our QB’s?
I was the only one who called Fields a year in advance on this site and many of my fellow fans disagreed.
The awareness has to be sinking in slowly one by one to each fan that somehow we missed our opportunity with each departure.
“I’m excited to be a horned frog”
That just doesn’t sound right.
Congrats.

You called McKenzie Milton noodle legs..
I wish I didn’t have to call him noodle legs. That’s on him, not me.
Fair.
Best wishes! Now go out there and beat OU and Texas!
Fromm
Bennett
Mathis (forgot him)
And hopefully Plumlee
Who?
He gave us much needed depth this past year. Please think before you speak.
