Nick Chubb was announced as Georgia’s starting running back during pregame intros for Sunday’s game at South Carolina, according to Marc Weiszer of Online Athens.

Chubb was “cleared to play” in the practices leading up to Week 6 after experiencing a left-ankle sprain in Week 4. The junior running back made one rushing attempt in the first quarter of last week’s game against Tennessee, but did not return afterward.

Chubb leads the Bulldogs with 425 yards and three touchdowns on 84 rushing attempts. He is averaging 85 yards per game and 5.06 yards per carry.

The junior bounced back from a knee injury suffered during last year’s game against Tennessee, which forced him to miss the Bulldogs’ final seven games.

Chubb led Georgia with 1,547 yards and 14 touchdowns on 219 in 2014, which was the fourth highest single-season rushing total in school history behind all three of Herschel Walker’s seasons from 1980-82.
