A three-star cornerback has defected from Georgia’s class of 2016.

Malek Young, a two-way player for Coconut Creek High School in Pompano Beach, Fla., will re-open his commitment after the recent coaching transition at UGA.

The 5-foot-10, 175-pound cornerback could be headed to the ACC. It would not be a surprise if he followed Mark Richt to the University of Miami. Florida State also has come after him heavily.

Georgia now holds 15 commitments in its class of 2016. Running back Devwah Whaley also has decommitted since the Bulldogs hired coach Kirby Smart.

These types of defections are pretty common in December as coaching staffs change. The one that Georgia needs to make sure it retains is five-star quarterback Jacob Eason, who is expected to announce his final decision between the Bulldogs and Florida Gators next week.
