Georgia athletic department responds to Dan Patrick's report of potential NCAA investigation
Dan Patrick got the attention of the college football world Friday morning when he shared that Tennessee will face a “serious investigation” and noted that Georgia could be up next for an NCAA investigation. Patrick that he had heard the Bulldogs “got sloppy in recruiting.”
If the NCAA is coming to investigate UGA, it’s news to the program’s athletic department. Mike Griffith of DawgNation shared a response from the UGA administration to Patrick’s report:
“While we do not comment on alleged NCAA investigations at other institutions, we have no information to suggest there is any validity to the reports relating to our football program.”
Reports suggest that the Tennessee investigation involves the recruitment of Amarius Mims, a 5-star class of 2021 offensive lineman who committed to Georgia over UT and Alabama and ultimately signed with Kirby Smart’s program during the December Early Signing Period.
While Patrick is presumably unlikely to share just a random rumor, it appears UGA isn’t worried about any NCAA trouble at the moment.
Dan says that he’s heard from source that Tennessee football will face a serious investigation. He also said that Georgia could be next. “I was told Georgia got sloppy in recruiting.” @dpshow
