Georgia RHP Emerson Hancock was the first Bulldog pitcher to be taken in Round 1 of the 2020 MLB Draft, going No. 6 overall to the Seattle Mariners.

Fellow righty Cole Wilcox was projected as a potential first-round pick; however, he fell to the 3rd round and was selected by the San Diego Padres with the No. 80 overall pick.

In Wilcox’s COVID-19 shortened 2020 season, he was on his way to an incredible season. Before the rest of the season was canceled amid the pandemic, he was 3-0 with a 1.57 ERA in 23.0 innings pitched. He had 32 strikeouts and only 2 walks.
