Georgia found itself back on the scoreboard against LSU in unusual fashion for the 2nd time during the SEC Championship.

The Bulldogs blocked a field goal with just over 3 minutes remaining in the 1st quarter as Nazir Stackhouse got his hand to Damian Ramos’ 32-yard attempt, only for Christopher Smith to take it 95 yards the other way to open the scoring.

Leading 14-7 early in the 2nd, though, they benefited from another strange play. Jayden Daniels’ pass on 3rd-and-10 appeared to touch the ground for an incompletion. Georgia, though, kept the play going, and as you’ll see below, the ball actually came off the helmet of a LSU player before being tipped into the arms of Smael Mondon:

One play later, Stetson Bennett fired it into the arms of Ladd McConkey as the Bulldogs opened up a 21-7 lead over the Tigers:

Georgia hasn’t won an SEC title since 2017. It’s in good shape against the Tigers with just over a quarter of football played, thanks in part to a few breaks that have gone its way.
