Georgia linebacker Adam Anderson was on the  field for the Cocktail Party game against Florida and enjoyed a terrific game, recording a career-high 7 tackles and 0.5 sacks during the No. 1 Bulldogs’ blowout win over the Gators.

However, it was reported on Nov. 4 that Anderson had been suspended by Kirby Smart as the senior is under investigation for a rape allegation levied against him. The incident was alleged to have occurred in the early morning hours of Oct. 29 and reported that afternoon, as a 21-year-old woman accused Anderson of a non-consensual sexual encounter.

On Monday, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution quoted a university spokesman as saying that the Georgia Athletic Association and Smart hadn’t learned about the investigation until Nov. 1.

“The Athletic Association, including coach Kirby Smart, was not aware of the incident or incident report before Monday, Nov. 1, which is consistent with the print date on the report we received,” the spokesman said.

The newspaper also reached out to Anderson’s attorney, who confirmed the spokesman’s quote.
