Georgia wide receiver Colbie Young has reportedly reached a plea deal in his domestic violence case.
Young was arrested on Oct. 8 and subsequently suspended from the program. The WR was originally charged with misdemeanor battery and assault of an unborn child. On Wednesday, Young pled no contest to a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct and will reportedly serve 12 months of probation, pay a $500 fine, and attend a family violence intervention program.
A misdemeanor battery charge was amended to disorderly conduct and the charge of assault on an unborn child was dismissed. It’s unclear when or if Young will be cleared to return to the Bulldogs. Georgia refused to comment after the plea deal was announced.
In 2024, Young played in 5 games with the Bulldogs and caught 11 passes for 149 yards and 2 touchdowns. The WR rejoined team activities late in the season but was held out of the games.
2024 was Young’s first season in Athens after playing at Miami in 2022 and 2023. Through 22 games with the Hurricanes, Young caught 79 passes for 930 yards and 10 TDs. The WR was a hot commodity in the transfer portal, and the Bulldogs planned on the former ACC standout to play a large role. Instead, legal issues have the talented WR’s career in limbo.
Before Georgia took on Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl, Kirby Smart was asked about Young returning to the Bulldogs.
“Yeah, Colbie and I have had those discussions,” said Smart. “I think only time will tell on that. I’d rather keep those conversations kind of between he and I, because he has a lot of things going on.”
