Fan interest in some marquee bowl games is static at best, and floundering at worst, including Georgia-Baylor in the Sugar Bowl.
Darren Rovell of The Action Network collected the 10 cheapest get-in price of bowl games from Gametime, an app that boasts last-minute tickets at the best prices.
The Sugar Bowl is No. 2 at $8, which may reflect in part Georgia fans being underwhelmed since the Bulldogs were just in New Orleans last year against Texas. Or that it’s been a disappointing season as the Bulldogs missed out on an SEC Championship and berth in the College Football Playoff. Baylor also doesn’t bring the marquee brand-name that Georgia fans have seen in recent opponents, like Notre Dame and Texas, from a non-conference perspective.
Other bowl games involving SEC teams, like the Music City Bowl and Belk Bowl, are also under $30 for Mississippi State and Kentucky fans.
Georgia is trying to bounce back from a 37-10 loss in the SEC championship game and find a jolt to the struggling offense amid a host of injuries.
Some interesting storylines are Georgia playing this game without a slew of NFL-bound players, which is different than last season, and the upward trend of Baylor under coach Matt Rhule.
