Glenn Schumann, Georgia’s co-defensive coordinator, has been a key piece of Georgia’s staff since 2016. But this past offseason, Schumann drew interest from the Philadelphia Eagles and he reportedly interviewed for a job.
Schumann addressed the topic with reporters on Tuesday.
“When you’re successful, opportunities come for everybody … It was an honor to be considered and to be reached out to by them. I appreciate it,” he said. “My family is extremely happy here … When you look at it, there’s been a lot of people who have been extremely happy and they tried to be happier and they wound up miserable … There’s a lot of reasons why to still be at Georgia.”
Schumann’s career has largely been tied to Kirby Smart.
He began his coaching career as a student assistant at Alabama, then followed Smart to Athens as the inside linebackers coach in 2016. After Mel Tucker left for the Colorado head coaching job, Schumann was promoted to co-DC in 2019 and served as the defensive play-caller in 2022 as Will Muschamp also holds the title of co-defensive coordinator.
