Gunner Stockton, arguably the top quarterback prospect in the nation for the 2022 recruiting cycle, just announced his new college commitment — and it wasn’t to the program many believed he would be heading following his decision to decommit from South Carolina after Will Muschamp was fired and Mike Bobo left for Auburn.

Stockton isn’t headed to Auburn after all, instead, he plans to play for Kirby Smart’s Georgia program.

The five-star signal-caller from Tiger, Ga., announced his decision on Thursday. Stockton is rated as the No. 1 dual-threat quarterback prospect in the country for the 2022 recruiting cycle according to 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Following his news, Georgia has seven total commitments already lined up for the 2022 recruiting cycle with all of them hailing from the Peach State. Stockton joins Bainbridge’s Deyon Bouie as the lone five-stars committed in the class at this point.
