Georgia has had a ton of great running backs come through the program, but none were better than Herschel Walker.

However, it appears Walker would put another former Georgia star — Nick Chubb, who currently plays for the Cleveland Browns — on his level.

In an interview with 247Sports, Walker was effusive in his praise for Chubb, citing his work ethic and the way he came back from a devastating leg injury:

“I am so proud of him because of the person he really is,” Walker said. “He is someone who believes in his work and he works hard to overcome. That injury that he had, a lot of people would not have been able to come back from it. He not only came back, he came back with a vengeance.

“He is my hero as well. A guy like I am from the country who worked his tail off, is dedicated to what he is doing, and does not forget where he came from or who he is. I try to tell people what gives you that hunger is knowing who you are and where you came from. That makes you want to work. You are no better than anyone else — you have to put the time in. It does not just happen.

“Extremely strong. People do not realize how strong Nick is. The guy works. When you put the work in you are going to get the work out and Nick is a prime example of that.”

Walker had 5,259 rushing yards and 52 total touchdowns in 3 seasons with the Bulldogs. Chubb finished his 3-plus seasons at Georgia with 4,769 rushing yards and 48 total touchdowns.

It’s very cool to see Walker offer such high praise to another former Georgia star.
