CBS Sports college football analyst Barrett Sallee was on the Matt McClearin Show on Tuesday, and he said what a lot of other analysts have during the first few weeks of the 2022 season — that No. 1 Georgia is in a class by itself right now as conference play begins.

“Georgia is just a behemoth,” Sallee said. “That team is so far ahead of everybody else. The fact that they didn’t miss a beat defensively, I thought it would be the case, but they’ve actually gotten better defensively, which seems almost impossible.”

After Sallee praised a ferocious Bulldogs defense that has only allowed 10 points combined in its first 3 games, he saluted an offense that has piled up 130 points in victories over Oregon, Samford and South Carolina.

“The offense runs through Stetson Bennett, and Stetson has been money,” said Sallee. “This time last year we were talking about Bryce Young not having a pass attempt in the fourth quarter. Stetson Bennett doesn’t have a pass attempt in the fourth quarter right now. That’s how good this team is.”

Sallee mentioned Ohio State as being the closest team to Georgia at this point.

“Georgia is on a completely different level. … Right now, I mean, Georgia is just a monster,” he said.
