Former 5-star cornerback Jaheim Singletary decided that Georgia wasn’t the ideal place to continue his collegiate career.

One of the Bulldogs’ top recruits from the 2022 cycle announced on social media on Friday that he will be entering the transfer portal.

Singletary was the 27th-ranked overall player in the 2022 class, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. The 6-foot-1, 175-pound product from Jacksonville, Florida, signed with Georgia with great expectations for his 1st season.

But he played in just 3 games in 2022 and redshirted instead.

Georgia signed 5 other defensive backs during the 2022 cycle, and head coach Kirby Smart has brought in another 4 DBs in the current 2023 class. The Bulldogs’ top cornerback signee, AJ Harris, is reportedly already on campus, and he practiced with the team during the lead up to the national championship game against TCU.

Smart also signed cornerbacks Chris Peal and Daniel Harris in this cycle, so perhaps the window of opportunity to play meaningful snaps for Singletary was closing by the minute and he felt like he needed to go elsewhere.

Despite Georgia’s embarrassment of riches in talent, Smart has lamented his lack of depth in the cornerback room, and seeing Singletary walk out the door to the portal won’t help that depth for 2023.
