For most teams, when your running back is your top-returning pass-catcher in terms of last season’s stats, it’s a cause for concern. That’s the situation now that Jeremiah Holloman has been dismissed from the team. UGA, of course, isn’t like most teams.

Swift was No. 6 on the team in receiving yards with 297 (not bad for a running back) behind Riley Ridley (570), Mecole Hardman (532), Issac Nauta (430), Holloman (418) and Terry Godwin (373). It takes more than five departures, however, to make a dent on the talent in Athens.

At the Manning Passing Academy, Dawgs QB Jake Fromm recently pointed to the pass-catchers he’s expecting to step up.

“There’s a lot of guys we can’t wait to see what they do. We’re excited to see D-Rob and Tyler Simmons step up,” Fromm said, per DawgNation.

D-Rob, of course, refers to Demetrius Robertson. The former 5-star recruit and No. 1 wide receiver of the 2016 class signed with Cal, but transferred to UGA. Simmons, a former 3-star recruit, brings veteran experience to the corps having played in 13 games as a junior, recording nine catches for 138 yards and two touchdowns. Freshman breakout candidates at the position include 5-star WR George Pickens, 4-star WR Dominick Blaylock and 4-star ATH Makiya Tongue.

You always hope to return experienced contributors, but it’s understandable why Fromm doesn’t sound too worried about UGA’s receiving corps minus Holloman.
