Georgia became the first SEC East program to win three straight division titles since Florida accomplished that feat in the mid-1990’s. But that’s just the beginning of the history Georgia set with its victory against Auburn last week.

For all three of its recent division titles, Jake Fromm has been Georgia’s starting quarterback. Fromm is the only quarterback in SEC history to win his division in his first three seasons as a starter.

With how hard it is for a freshman quarterback to start immediately and win in the SEC, it’s hard to envision anyone else in the conference matching Fromm with three division titles in the first three years as a starter anytime soon.

Starting as a freshman isn’t a requirement for this stat because its “the first three years as a starter,” but any quarterback who’s had a lot of success winning in the SEC as a sophomore and junior might not stay through their senior season.

That’s what makes this achievement so impressive.

In SEC Championship Games, Fromm is 1-1, having beaten Auburn two years ago but losing to Alabama last season. In all likelihood, Georgia will face LSU in this year’s SEC title bout.

Last year, the Bulldogs lost to LSU, 36-16, in a rare regular season matchup in Baton Rouge.
