Reactions to the Jamie Newman era ending at Georgia before it ever really began
The landscape of the SEC East may have just shifted on Wednesday as Jamie Newman has made the decision to opt-out for the 2020 season according to multiple reports.
Newman’s plan is to leave Georgia and start preparing for the 2021 NFL Draft, he will not return to suit up for the Bulldogs in 2021.
The former Wake Forest signal-caller transferred into Georgia this offseason and was immediately hailed by many as the savior of the new offense following the hire of coordinator, Todd Monken.
Now Newman leaves Athens without ever suiting up for the Bulldogs in a game.
Just when you think you’ve seen it all in 2020, something like this happens.
As expected, there has been quite a reaction to the news:
Hard to say what my favorite memory will be of the Jamie Newman era at UGA. https://t.co/QuiEVoYak1

Have heard that Jamie Newman had been looking really impressive during camp. Sources say he’d been mulling over this decision during the past 48 hours.

Outside of a poor freshman passing grade, @PFF_College charted JT Daniels' Wins Above Replacement in 2018 at -.41, which was the 2nd-worst in college football that season. pic.twitter.com/mm6Dr0MZ6B

QB Jamie Newman had a real opportunity to get his name in the first three rounds with a strong 2020 season
And that's still possible, but right now most of the NFL evaluators I talk to have him in the 4th-6th round range. https://t.co/1Mttu60e1U
