Kirby Smart addresses Georgia’s hiring of Scott Cochran, confirms role for former Alabama assistant

On Monday, it was announced that Alabama strength coach Scott Cochran — who had been with the program since 2007 — was leaving for an on-field role at Georgia.
Georgia coach Kirby Smart issued a statement on the hiring on Monday, too, saying he’s excited to have the fiery assistant on board.
Also, as you can see in the statement below, he confirmed that Cochran would serve as Georgia’s special-teams coordinator:

Smart and Cochran have a relationship that dates back to Smart’s time as Alabama’s defensive coordinator, and it seems they’ve kept in touch.
We’ll see how Cochran fares in his new role on the field at Georgia this fall.
