Kirby Smart believes his running backs have been given some big opportunities to step up this season.

Georgia hasn’t leaned heavily on the run so far, but Smart is sure to get the run game going as the Bulldogs get further into SEC play.

So far, Daijun Edwards is leading the charge in the running backs room, but Smart believes there are several players that could step up at any moment, including Andrew Paul, who missed all of his freshman season with a torn ACL last year.

“I think everybody has an opportunity, we’ve got Sevaughn Clark, Andrew Paul, Len’Neth Whitehead, all those guys have been doing a good job and getting better each week,” Smart said. “They get a lot of reps, and I think the opportunity’s there for really a lot of backs that are working their tail off. Dell’s done a great job preparing those guys, looking forward to seeing them all hopefully getting a chance to play.”

Georgia’s running backs will get another chance to prove themselves on Saturday as the Bulldogs take on UAB.
