Kirby Smart has officially beaten out Nick Saban as the fastest coach in the Southeastern Conference to ever reach 100 wins.

The Georgia head coach is now 100-17 after a statement victory over the No. 1 Texas Longhorns, 30-15, on the road and against the odds.

It took Saban 118 games to reach 100 wins, with Steve Spurrier (120 games), Phillip Fulmer (124 games), Bear Bryant (126 games) and Les Miles (126 games) behind him in that order. Smart’s .855 winning percentage is the best in the history of the conference, right in front of Saban who has a .847 winning percentage in the SEC.

“A lot of credit goes to a lot of people… Sam Pittman, (Jim) Chaney, Dell McGee, Todd Monken,” Smart said after the game as he credited a lot of the coaches and players that had been along the way of his success. “A lot of players. Kamari Lassiter. D’Andre Swift here tonight. (DeAndre) Baker. Just flooded the sidelines. So many others had an involvement in those 100 wins.”

Smart and the Bulldogs will look to stay on the right trajectory after this huge victory as they face the Florida Gators on Saturday.
