Kirby Smart and Georgia are locked in at the Orange Bowl on Saturday evening.

Heading into the matchup against Florida State, many wondered how both teams would look outside of the College Football Playoff. Both teams are juggling opt-outs and injuries, but it has not slowed down the Bulldogs.

Heading into halftime, Georgia is up 42-3 over FSU. Per ESPN’s broadcast, it is the largest halftime lead in the history of the Orange Bowl. The Bulldogs scored 35 points in the second quarter alone to cruise into halftime with a 39-point lead.

During his halftime interview, Smart praised his defense for a key stop in the red zone and a balanced performance on either side of the ball:

“They’ve worked really hard this year, getting better in the red area. I thought we had a big red area stop there, stopped the momentum,” said Smart. “Really proud of the offense, came out and played on both sides of the ball.”

Offensively, Smart was pleased with the rushing attack led by Kendall Milton and Daijun Edwards. Both players are averaging over 11 yards per carry, and Milton has already eclipsed 100 yards with a pair of touchdowns.

“We’ve been able to run the ball up inside really well. Kendall and Daijun have done a great job,” Smart praised. “A really physical offensive line allows you to do that.”

We’ll see how Georgia finishes things off in the second half, but already the performance is conjuring up flashbacks to the dominant national championship win over TCU a season ago.
