The Battle for quarterback No. 2 in Athens is in full swing.

Stetson Bennett has earned the right to lock up the starting job, but one of redshirt freshman Brock Vandagriff and sophomore pocket passer Carson Beck has to be second in line.

So, who has the lead as of now?

“Well, they’re different; they’re two different guys,” head coach Kirby Smart said, via Chip Towers of the Atlanta Journal Constitution. “They each possess different parts of what Stetson does well. So, the thought process there is we want to find out who’s the best guy, who gives you the best opportunity to win against who you’re playing, what are the packages you’re running, what are you carrying over from Stetson and how does it fit with those two guys?”

Beck has seen limited action for the Bulldogs following an injury to JT Bennett in Game 2 last season. In that game and three others, Beck totaled 176 yards on 10-23 splits with 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions.

Vandagriff was the No. 4 quarterback in the Class of 2021 and the No. 17 prospect in the nation.
