Shane Beamer and the South Carolina Gamecocks aren’t just beating Georgia. They’re… almost dominating Georgia so far to start Week 3’s matchup at Sanford Stadium. USC leads Georgia 14-3 heading into the break.

That’s a bizarre reality to take in. And regardless of what happens in the 2nd half short of a 40-point unanswered comeback, the Gamecocks have to be proud of this effort thus far.

Georgia, on the other hand, has looked rough to start. Georgia head coach Kirby Smart talked to the TV crew before heading into the locker room to discuss the 30 first minutes.

“Well, we gotta get off the field on 3rd down,” Smart said. “They hit 2 explosive plays to their playmaker, No. 17, we got him doubled and he still beat us. We gotta get some turnovers to get off the field.”

No. 17 – Xaiver Legette – has indeed had a big day against the Bulldogs. He’s totaled 6 receptions for 68 yards and the game is only halfway over.

And Spencer Rattler has certainly delivered so far. The USC QB has started out nearly perfect, throwing for 152 yards and a touchdown on 16-18 completions.

Smart was seen talking with his QB, Carson Beck, heading into the locker room. He told the TV crew that he reminded Beck the Bulldogs will get the ball first out of the break, just trying to calm his QB down.

Beck has totaled 98 yards passing on 13-18 attempts, but he’s failed to push the ball downfield against South Carolina’s secondary thus far.

“We get the ball first, that’s big. We were trying to double possession there, get points and start out the 2nd quarter. A little out of rhythm on offense, they’re doing well defensively, and we’ve got a couple guys down, we’ve gotta make up for it and have some guys step up.”
