Georgia may be experiencing a bit of a hangover after a resounding win over Oregon, led by former defensive coordinator Dan Lanning, to open the season on Sept. 3.

Per DawgsHQ, Kirby Smart was pleased with his team’s practice on Monday as the Bulldogs began preparation for their true home opener against Samford on Saturday between the hedges. Tuesday’s practice? Not so much.

“Thought we had one of our best practices of the year yesterday,” Smart said in his Tuesday press conference. “Thought we had one of our worst practices of the year today. Not sure where we are.”

The good news is that there’s plenty of time to course-correct for the Dawgs as the week progresses. The better news is that they’ll be heavily favored to defeat their FCS opponent on Saturday.

Still, knowing Smart — and even more so, considering his team is the defending national champion — he and his staff will work hard to make sure that any issues, major or minor, will be ironed out before game time rolls around.
