Kirby Smart could be without two key members of the defense in the SEC Championship game against Alabama on Saturday.

The Georgia head coach offered a few injury updates during his press conference on Monday, including updates on linebacker Jamon Dumas-Johnson and Julian Humphrey.

Dumas-Johnson, a junior, missed Georgia’s final three games of the regular season against Ole Miss, Tennessee and Georgia Tech with an arm injury. On the season, he has recorded 34 tackles and 3.5 sacks.

Humphrey, a freshman, also missed the final three games of the season with an upper body injury. Humphrey has recorded 11 tackles on the season.

Smart did not confirm if either player would be ready to go against Alabama on Saturday, but they are both working to get back before the season is over.

“Still week to week with their injuries, trying to get both of those guys back,” Smart said.

If Georgia can get Dumas-Johnson and Humphrey back for the SEC Championship, it would be huge. Alabama’s offense has come to its own after a slow start and is now playing at a very high level. Quarterback Jalen Milroe offers a unique challenge with his ability to pass and pick up yards on the ground, and having the key defensive players back would aid the Bulldogs tremendously.
