Will Muschamp has coached at 5 SEC programs either as a head coach or an assistant, so this week is nothing new to him as his former South Carolina program visits his current program, Georgia.

Coach Kirby Smart was asked on the SEC coaches media teleconference on Wednesday how Muschamp is handling it knowing that there are players who went to South Carolina to play for Muschamp.

“He’s a consummate pro when it comes to work and professionalism,” Smart said. “He’s had this situation a lot before. He’s been all over the SEC. … It’s not new to him, that’s for sure. I know he’ll handle it well.”

On Tuesday, South Carolina coach Shane Beamer, of course a former Georgia assistant under Smart, described this Georgia roster as “the most talented football team in the history of Georgia football.”

Smart was asked for his reaction to that comment.

“I didn’t even see it to be honest with you. He’s not the first to say that,” Smart said. “They say it every year. … It’s always nice for guys to be able to say that about us before they play us. Then they usually say it about the next team they play, too.”
