Kirby Smart knows Georgia has a challenge ahead against Tennessee’s electric run game.

The Bulldogs head coach has seen what they are capable of, and now he’s going to do his best to stop them on Saturday.

Missouri was the first team since Georgia last year to hold Tennessee’s back field to less than 100 rushing yards, and Smart is hoping his team can contain the Vols’ running backs the way it did last year.

Smart believes Tennessee makes its run game almost impossible to stop, and he knows he’ll have to rely on his defensive line to avoid getting blocked.

“You can’t stop the light boxes. They make it where you can’t,” Smart said. “You gotta be able to strike a man, get off a block. Football is so simple when it comes down to your ability to play block protection or block people. You either get blocked or you don’t get blocked. You gotta win a whole bunch of one-on-ones if you don’t have enough people in there, because they expose you quickly, and they’re very physically tough. Their o-line plays that way, their backs are easily the best table of backs we’ve seen this year in terms of the package of backs they have. That includes the quarterback with the backs. It’s a really tough prep. They do a great job.”

Georgia is looking for another big win after beating Missouri and Ole Miss in back-to-back weeks. The challenge is made difficult by playing on the road, but Smart has had Tennessee’s number in recent years, and he’s looking to continue his win streak on Saturday.
