The Georgia Bulldogs have gotten more from their wide receivers this year than they did last year, with guys like Terry Godwin and Javon Wims stepping up.

However, the position is still one the Bulldogs will need to address in the future, but it sounds like coach Kirby Smart thinks there’s a player on the roster who could fill a big role next year.

According to Smart, freshman WR Matt Landers has been doing incredible work on the scout team, giving Georgia’s first-team defense all it can handle during practice (via 247Sports):

“He’s a force to be reckoned with,” Smart said of Landers’ work on the scout team. “I’ll be honest with you.”

Smart said it’s rare to see a freshman with such a great attitude, but Landers is making great strides in practice so far this season:

“He’s been good,” Smart said. “He likes practicing. He goes up and makes plays. He competes with those corners. He’s got great length. He enjoys that part of it.”

At this point, barring major injuries to other receivers, it doesn’t make sense for the Bulldogs to burn Landers’ redshirt season.

Therefore, we might not see him on the field until 2018, but if Smart’s rave reviews are true, the Dawgs should have a talented player waiting in the wings.
