Kirby Smart praises Ladd McConkey’s durability: ‘He’s been extremely valuable’

Kirby Smart understands that Georgia has been thin at certain wide receiver positions, and the Bulldogs have leaned on Ladd McConkey to produce more than usual.
“What he’s been is tough, man, he gives you work every day, never wants to miss anything,” Smart said at his Monday press conference. “If anything we’ve had to overuse Ladd. You’d like to have a rotation of guys at that position, and we haven’t been able to have a large rotation … He gives you all he’s got, he’s really physical, he’s been durable for a guy his size and at his position and really proud of the toughness he’s shown to push through really the injuries and beats and bangs he’s had.”
And it’s not just on offense.
“He’s been good for us in the return game, has also been one of our best gunners, downing punts and making tackles on coverage. So he’s been extremely valuable.”
McConkey, who is listed at 6 foot and 185 pounds, is tied with Brock Bowers for Georgia’s team lead in catches with 46, and he has 606 yards with 4 touchdowns.
