Kirby Smart is on the speaking tour with plenty of topics to cover this talking season.

The Georgia coach wrote a new book with long-time radio sideline reporter Loran Smith about the team that won the national championship at the end of the 2021 season: “How ‘Bout Them Dawgs!: The Inside Story of Georgia Football’s 2021 National Championship Season.” The book is scheduled to be out on June 1.

Speaking on “The Locker Room” on 680 The Fan, Smart addressed the pressure that comes with a team looking to win a 3rd straight national title.

“No greater pressure than it was last year,” Smart said. “Every year’s independent of the previous. You start from scratch, you look at your team. You do the best job you can. You probably need a little luck, just like we had against Ohio State. At the end of the day, I could be sitting here and had we lost that game, I still think we would have had a successful season. Certainly success is measured by rings and championships, but internally, we measure it on did we get the most out of our team and we’re going to do the same thing this year.”

About the book, Smart said it was difficult to find time to speak with Smith about it, so Smith traveled with him to offseason speaking engagements.

“It brought a lot of people in, the national championship, so many people impacted it,” Smart said. “He put these vignettes and he gave so much credit to so many people and I think our players did a great job, who talked to him. And just an inside look at kind of being on the inside of the national championship run. Loran just did a fabulous job, but we did spend a lot of time putting the stories into it.”
