The Georgia Bulldogs had a couple of key players suffer injuries in practice this week.

TE Darnell Washington and DB Tykee Smith were both reported to have suffered foot injuries, and their availability for Week 1 against Clemson was cast into doubt.

On Wednesday afternoon, though, coach Kirby Smart issued a statement (via email from the school), saying the prognosis is good for both players and their status should be considered day-to-day:

“Darnell Washington and Tykee Smith sustained foot injuries during practice this week,” Smart’s statement read. “They are both undergoing treatment and have an excellent prognosis. Their status is day to day.”

Obviously, day-to-day is a much better prognosis than 3-4 weeks, which would put the Clemson game in jeopardy.

Now, we’ll have to see how quickly the 2 key Bulldogs can return to action.
