Georgia football just finds ways to win. That’s the sign of a good football team, after all.
Seriously, think back to all the times in recent memory where Georgia was on the ropes and came back to win. The Bulldogs’ win at Mizzou in 2022 and Georgia over Kentucky this season come to mind.
And of course, Georgia over Georgia Tech on Friday night, with the Bulldogs outlasting the Yellow Jackets despite being down 17-0 and despite the game entering an incredible 8 overtimes.
Head coach Kirby Smart met with media soon after the wild ending to summarize an instant classic. Here’s what he had to say about the effort from his guys:
“That no matter if you’ve got the hardest schedule in the country, hardest schedule probably in the history of Georgia, you keep fighting. You keep fighting,” Smart said. “And everybody, you know, holds a shot at you. Those guys played really hard tonight. They had a good game plan. They played well enough to win. I’m talking about Georgia Tech. But our guys found a way to win. And at the end of the day, that’s what this is all about.”
Georgia now awaits its opponent in the upcoming SEC Championship game. It’ll be one of Texas or Texas A&M, which will be decided on the playing field tonight in College Station at 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
