Kirby Smart is well on his way to being one of the all-time great coaches in college football.

On Saturday, he achieved a mark that put him one step closer.

Smart coached his 100th game and achieved the highest win percentage through 100 games of any SEC coach with 85 wins. Since joining Georgia in 2016, Smart has been the epitome of a winning head coach.

But Smart first gave credit to those around him in the organization, praising his assistants, the athletic department and of course the fans.

“All the guys involved in this organization make our job a lot easier by supporting us,” Smart said in a postgame press conference. “And the fans, the people that pay for the tickets, the facilities. We wouldn’t have 85 wins out of 100 if we didn’t have the organization we have.”

With the 85th win in 100 games, Smart’s winning percentage through 100 games is better than legendary coaches like Bear Bryant, Nick Saban and Steve Spurrier. Smart was humble when told which coaches he surpassed and joked that he had an easier path.

“That’s pretty steep company when you start talking about all those people,” Smart said. “I probably had an easier schedule.”

Smart is nowhere near finished making history. Georgia will look to continue its quest for a 3rd-straight championship next week as the Bulldogs take on Auburn.
