Kirby Smart tabs sophomore Bulldog as a 'special teams demon'
Kirby Smart knows better than anyone how important all 3 phases of the game are.
Offense and defense get the most shine, but games can be won or lost on special teams. And Smart has seen excellent special teams play from his unit this season.
One sophomore stands out. Jackson Meeks, a wide receiver, was tabbed as a special teams demon by Smart in Monday’s annual press conference.
“The No. 1 thing that he’s done is he’s been a special-teams demon,” Smart said Monday, via the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “You know, you guys don’t get to see it enough. But he’s taken over a role on special teams in terms of kickoff coverage, punt return. He’s really been really good at what he does.”
Offensively, Meeks has caught 4 passes for 90 yards on the season in a reserve role.
