The Georgia Bulldogs looked like the 2-time defending national champions on Saturday as they defeated Tennessee, 38-10. The Volunteers scored on a 75-yard touchdown on the first play of the game, but did little after that.

It was a great win for the Bulldogs, but there were some injuries in the game, and coach Kirby Smart talked about them after the game.

The first player Smart talked about was on offensive lineman Tate Ratledge, who left the game in the first quarter with a knee injury.

“Tate banged knees, so we felt he might be able to get back in there,” Smart said. “He tried to go, but couldn’t, there’s no X-ray, no damage, so he tells me he’s going to be able to play this week. We’ll see.”

Another Bulldog player who was injured was wide receiver Rara Thomas, who left the game in the second quarter with a knee injury.

“The X-rays were negative, it wasn’t an ankle sprain, it bothered him in warmups,” Smart said. “Maybe a foot sprain, which is what Kamari (Lassiter) has been dealing with. We don’t really know, but the X-rays are negative, so that’s really good news. But it’s not an ankle.”

And the third and last player Smart talked about was wide receiver Ladd McConkey, who left in the first quarter after he reaggravated the ankle injury he suffered against Ole Miss.

“Ladd had an ankle (injury) last week and he didn’t practice all week,” Smart said. “We thought he’d be able to go, but he was not really able to go. He tried, got out there in warm-ups but he didn’t do much.”

The Bulldogs will be in action next week against Georgia Tech, but have the SEC Championship looming in 2 weeks against Alabama.
