Wow.

That’s the only word to describe the last couple of minutes of the first half in the Georgia-Florida rivalry game in Jacksonville on Saturday.

The No. 1 Bulldogs led 3-0 late in the second quarter. By halftime, the lead had ballooned out to 24-0, thanks to some costly turnovers by the Florida offense.

Georgia’s elite defense showed what it could do, with Nakobe Dean putting the icing on the cake with a pick-6 just before halftime.

At halftime, Georgia coach Kirby Smart shared his thoughts on the dramatic turnaround during an interview with Jamie Erdahl of CBS:

“We’re playing aggressive,” he said. “We talked all week about aggressive and disciplined. I thought we did a good job offensively. … Both units are playing well. We’ve got a second half to do the same thing.”

About QB Stetson Bennett IV, Smart said:

“He’s made a couple poor decisions. He’s got to make better decisions, when he can run the ball. If it’s not there, that’s OK. Right now, in this wind, we’ve got 4 downs to score anyway.”

We’ll see if the Dawgs can continue their dominance in the second half of the big rivalry game.
