Georgia coach Kirby Smart commented on his decision to start Greyson Lambert over Jacob Eason during his radio show Thursday.
“We’re going to start the game with Greyson,” coach Kirby Smart said on his radio show Thursday night. “He’s done a great job through camp, a very good leader for our team and our program. I’ve got the utmost confidence in both of those guys.”
Eason was the nation’s top pro-style quarterback signee from the 2016 national recruiting class. The true freshman enrolled early in January and has competed for the starting job since spring practice.
Lambert has made 21 starts during his college career, including 12 of Georgia’s 13 games in 2015. He led the Bulldogs to a 10-2 record and threw for 1,959 yards, 12 touchdowns and two interceptions on 162 of 256 passing.
“Like I said before, Brice Ramsey did a great job in this competition as well,” Smart said. “They made it very difficult in the way they practiced and prepared and Greyson has done a good job leading it, communicating it, executing it and doing all those things. Jacob has shown great promise and has continued to improve. He’s done a lot of good things. We’re excited about both those guys.”
