Ladd McConkey has seamlessly fit into the NFL as a rookie. The former Georgia wide receiver has instantly become a favorite target of Justin Herbert.

McConkey’s Chargers are taking on the Houston Texans in the first round of the NFL Playoffs. With the Chargers in a 23-6 deficit in the 4th quarter, Herbert found McConkey over the middle of the field and the rookie was able to stay on his feet and outrace every defender to the end zone for an 86-yard score.

Here’s a replay of McConkey’s big moment:

The score was McConkey’s 8th of the season. Late in the 4th quarter against the Texans, the WR has 9 catches for 197 yards and 1 TD.

While the TD was impressive, it didn’t do much to help the Chargers’ fortunes. The extra point after McConkey’s score was botched and resulted in the Texans returning it for a 2-point conversion. The Chargers ended up losing to the Texans 32-12.

Even with the Chargers’ season coming to an end, McConkey has nothing to be ashamed about from his rookie campaign. McConkey caught 82 passes for 1,149 yards and 7 TDs during his rookie season.

The Georgia product was selected by the Chargers in the 2nd round of the 2024 NFL Draft. The Georgia native spent 4 seasons in Athens and caught 119 passes for 1,687 yards and 14 TDs as a Bulldog. McConkey won 2 national championships with Georgia and was a second-team All-SEC player in 2022.
