Mark Richt's response to seeing Georgia play in national title game was about as classy as you'd expect
It would be reasonable if Mark Richt had some animosity toward Georgia or Kirby Smart, after all, the SEC program cut ties with the Miami coach after 15 seasons of winning football in Athens. But Richt isn’t like most coaches.
No, in fact, Richt doesn’t shy from the fact he continues to root for his beloved Bulldogs.
ESPN college football writer Chris Low shared this comment from Richt after asking the former UGA coach about seeing his former program advance to the national title game. Richt’s response was as classy as you’d expect.
I asked @MarkRicht what it was like watching Georgia in the national title game, and his response was vintage Richt. "We cheer for people, so we were cheering for the players, and I'm friends with Kirby. Our time at Georgia will always be special to us."

Judging by Georgia’s success in the post-Richt era, the right decision was made to move on from him but that doesn’t mean he won’t continue to root on his Bulldogs each and every Saturday — unless, of course, they wind up playing Miami on that particular game day.
