Mecole Hardman delivered the final blow for the Kansas City Chiefs Sunday night, scoring a walk-off game-winning touchdown in the Super Bowl against the San Francisco 49ers.

With the game going into overtime, the San Francisco 49ers scored first with a field goal to take a 22-19 lead. The Chiefs were given a chance to tie or take the lead, and Patrick Mahomes delivered another legendary drive.

Mahomes converted a 4th-and-1 and a pair of 3rd-down plays to set up a 1st-and-goal situation from the 3-yard line. That’s when Kansas City dialed up a play that worked to perfection.

Hardman was able to work himself free by motioning to the inside and then back toward the sideline at the snap. He beat his man, and it was an easy pitch-and-catch for Mahomes and Hardman as the Chiefs completed a 25-22 Super Bowl win:

Hardman’s usage in Kansas City had waned in recent seasons after beginning his career with 3 straight seasons of at least 500 receiving yards, and he did not even begin the season with the Chiefs. Kansas City eventually moved to acquire him midseason, but he did not make a major impact prior to the Super Bowl.

Hardman did not have a catch in the AFC Championship Game and had just 2 catches for 5 yards in the playoffs entering Sunday. In the Super Bowl, the former Georgia star delivered 3 catches for 57 yards and the game-winning score.
