Willie Taggart is adding a former Super Bowl MVP to his Florida Atlantic coaching staff.

That’s the latest from ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg, who is reporting that Hines Ward has landed a position on FAU’s coaching staff as an assistant to the team’s receivers coach, Joey Thomas.

Ward previously served as an offensive assistant with the New York Jets for two seasons. Coaching receivers for FAU will mark Ward’s first time coaching in college football. He previously was rumored to be a potential support staff addition to Kirby Smart’s Georgia staff but that hire never materialized.

Before becoming a legendary receiver for the Steelers — Ward recorded 1,000 receptions, had 12,083 receiving yards, and scored 85 touchdowns in Pittsburgh — he played all over the field for Georgia.

During his time in Athens, Ward threw for 918 yards with three touchdowns and three interceptions as a quarterback, he rushed for 1,066 yards and five touchdowns and caught 144 passes for 1,965 yards and another 11 scores.
