Nick Chubb responds to Rush Propst's claims that Georgia paid him to return for senior year
Over the weekend, leaked audio clips involving former “Two-A-Days” coach Rush Propst surfaced. In those clips, which can be found here, Propst claims Alabama and Georgia pay massive amounts of money to land top recruits.
Also in the clips, Propst claims Georgia paid former RB Nick Chubb $180,000 to come back for his senior year, paid in 3 installments of $60,000.
On Monday evening, Chubb took to Twitter to weigh in on the situation, saying he would have just gone pro if he needed money:
If i needed money i would have went pro #fakenews

It’s tough to argue with Chubb’s point there. He could have made a lot more than $180K as an NFL player.
Now, he’s one of the best running backs in the league, starring for the Cleveland Browns. Georgia’s compliance office is at least looking into Propst’s claims, but it remains to be seen if anything comes from it.
No one believes him Nick
Good for Nick. Glad he made a statement.
No Georgia fan here, but Nick Chubb has always been looked upon as a straight up good person with a good head. He was highly respected by his people in Chubbtown. That’s good enough for me. Probst just likes to hear himself talk…..kinda reminds me of Pruitt.
Pruitt coached under Propst at Hoover High IIRC. Sometimes the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree……
Probst is a loose cannon. He coached at my high school and turned them into a powerhouse, but he has no morals or scruples and will do anything to win. The fact that anyone wants to hire him and put up with his drama always surprises me. He’s been given far more chance than anyone ever should.
far more CHANCES
So according to Propst, Chubb had to let UGA finance the $180k payout to him into “3 easy payments of $60,000 each”. LMAO. You can’t make this $hit up. Unless you’re Propst and need some free publicity.
Someone ought to sue these people that make accusations and have zero proof. Either put up, or shut up.
Maybe if it weren’t true somebody would sue him. Don’t act like a player at Ga. has never got money, sure they have. Just like at Bama, Aub, Tn, LSU, Fla. and everywhere else! It’s been going on forever, and if you think it doesn’t, then you are just naive.
I love how theres no evidence but you lean on the side of guilty anyway. Ask them players of yours about the McDonalds bags.
Prove it, or be gone.
Snapshot, sure it has. You can’t control every fan-booster – who could do it on their own. Ole Miss clearly did under Freeze. But it was clear to see for anybody who kept up with recruiting rankings. You don’t go from a top 20-30 class average to top 5-10 overnight unless something is helping the process.
I don’t think it happens all the time and at every school. There has been very little to suggest it’s prevalent at UGA.
Look at what happened to Todd Gurley. Why would Gurley sign hundreds of pieces of memorabilia for a measly $3,000 if he was being payed Hundreds of Thousands…
“the NCAA had said that Gurley would have to sit out 30 percent of his team’s competition, or four games, for accepting $3,000 to autograph memorabilia for multiple dealers over the past two years.”
Chubb was hurt the year before he went pro so him saying if he needed the money he would of went pro is b.s. We all know players do get paid. Go drive thru any of the SECs football players parking and look at the cars. How do college kids without jobs afford brand new Challengers or Charger and $60,000 new trucks? I remember when former Auburn RB Michael Dyer transfered from Aubie to Arkansas State and an state trooper pulled him over in a new charger. The trooper call old Gus and got him out of trouble until the media found out about it. All these players get paid.
Do you have proof or even a list of what all the star CFB players are driving and who financed or bought it? Just about anybody can buy a 50k car these days. If you have proof then by all means post it. Until then you’re just another CNN.
Your nuts, if you think just about anybody can buy a 50k car.
Leave it to a TN fan to try and call BS on Chubbs 3rd year. Where he wasn’t hurt btw he was hurt in his 2nd year. Vols can’t even pay players to come there, wait unless it’s in McDonald bags Go pound sand somewhere else lmfao
Ironic that this bullcrap comes from a member of the fanbase that made signs about Chubb’s knee injury in 2016. Thankfully the majority of Vol and SEC fans aren’t all the way in the gutter with you.
The same fan base that turned the scoreboard off after the Hail Mary victory in 2016. Stay classy GA.
1. I didn’t know that Dan bases control scoreboards.
2. Does that really upset you that it got turned off after the game? That’s usually how it works
3. You’re comparing turning a scoreboard off to people mocking someone’s bad injury.
There is plenty of UGA fans in the gutter..
This is the equivalent of claiming Jalen Hurts was paid to stay in 2018 or something. Get out of here.
I don’t care about the accusation as it’s stupid… My comment is your post about fans being In the gutter…
There is plenty of gutter trash dawg fans.. You’ve played there from time to time yourself on these boards..
And @BamaTime? Every fanbase has some “class acts”. I live in Alabama…don’t act like Tide Nation is the St. Louis Cardinals of NCAA Football…you have some fans that would fit right in any Tiger King episode yourself.
Honey boo boo is waiting on you…
ah bamatime acting holier than thou… what’s new with this loser. biggest crybaby on the site.
I’m looking forward to your recollection of literally ANY singly time I’ve said something close to gutter-level.
And…silence.
Wrong. Chubb was hurt his sophomore year not his junior season. His junior year he rushed for over 1100 yds and avg 5 ypc.
bryanchip. Yet, everybody was predicting Chubb would enter the draft? Your argument is based on a false premise.
Like you said, he was hurt the year before. He could move himself higher in the draft with a good Senior year. He ran for 1300 and it paid off…
He’s just salty Tennessee can’t even cheat right. Who does all that and wins 3 games. Really?
Yeah he was hurt in that cow pasture stadium along with several other UGA players and your sick fans applauded every one of them.
happy meals bag nuff said
People say this about Bama players who play their senior year too. Really, really dumb – what the NFL pays 7th rounders is way more than any booster would pony up.
Rush Propst has the morals and the integrity of a congressman. Anda that is about as low as you can go.
I have no doubt there’s some truth to it. If you’ve been around college football, you know kids are getting paid one way or the other. Whether it’s a dollar lease on a $50K car or free rent and a job for the family. It happens at every school. Let me guess, all of you that are calling pure B.S. think Cam didn’t get paid…right? At least him, his family, and his dad’s church had to go through a full audit to prove it.
Cam situation was a little different. His dad admitted to shoping his son around…
That was a formality to get his son’s eligibility restored and was type of plea deal made after the investigation. Since that wasn’t technically against NCAA rules.
Your point is what? Like I said His dad admitted to shopping him around. That alone is going to cause people to think Cam got paid..
My point is that he said what he needed to in order get his son eligible. It proves nothing…just like Propst’s comments. You believe what you want to depending on your bias.
Your comment mentioned people thinking cam got paid… I gave you the reason people think that. It’s not the same as this situation…
Keep trying though and you may stumble upon making a point.
Weagle99, why did Cam’s dad have to say that to get Cam eligible? Why wasn’t Cam eligible in the first place?
Shopping *
Spoken like a true Georgia grad.
Every school has paid someone. Some more than others. With the amount of talent that Georgia brings in every year, I wouldn’t be surprised if Georgia pays highschoolers every year. But what can prove that? Nothing.
I though he came back to prove he was healthy. I still think that.
Yeah he was a 3rd rounder at best after his junior season. He came back and made himself an early second rounder. the Patriots are probably kicking themselves for picking the wrong UGA back in the first round. But even as a 3rd rounder, 5th rounder, or UDFA, $180,000 would pale in comparison to what he would get from an NFL contract.
