Nick Chubb’s second surgery was a success, the Cleveland Browns announced Tuesday.

Chubb was lost for the 2023 season when he injured his knee in September. He underwent a second surgery to repair a torn ACL on Tuesday. Cleveland says that all went well and the former Georgia standout is on track to return in the 2024 season.

“Browns running back Nick Chubb underwent his scheduled second surgery today to repair the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) as part of his knee injury sustained in the September game against the Steelers in Pittsburgh,” the released statement reads. “Team Head Physician James Voos, MD, performed the surgery at University Hospitals Drusinsky Sports Medicine Institute. Dr. Voos considered today’s surgery successful and added that Nick’s recovery has progressed very well following his first surgery in late September. As previously announced, the estimated recovery time from these surgeries indicates that Nick would be able to return to play during the 2024 season.”

Chubb has been playing professionally since 2018, the year Cleveland selected him No. 35 overall in the second round of the NFL Draft. In regular-season action he has rushed for over 6,500 yards and 48 touchdowns, making the Pro Bowl each of the last 4 seasons.

In 2022, Chubb earned All-Pro recognition for the first time in his career. He posted career-highs of 302 carries for 1,525 yards. In his 2 appearances this season, he was averaging a career-high 6.1 yards per carry (28 rushes, 170 yards).

Football fans everywhere hope to see a healthy Chubb back in action next year.
