Georgia’s starting lineup on defense has taken yet another major blow.

Days after losing Dan Jackson for potential surgery on a foot injury, the Bulldogs saw star linebacker Nolan Smith go down with a pec injury. According to Georgia beat reporter Anthony Dasher, Smith is expected to miss the remainder of the season for the No. 1 Dawgs.

Smith was declared doubtful for Georgia’s No. 1 vs. No. 2 battle against Tennessee in Athens earlier this weekend before Tuesday’s news. The Bulldogs were already asking a lot trying to stop Tennessee’s high powered offense, and the loss of Smith makes things that much tougher.

Smith was Georgia’s sack leader on the season, getting home to the quarterback 3 times with 18 tackles to boot. The senior also has a pass deflection on the year.

Smith is a projected high 1st round pick in next year’s NFL Draft, a stock that will unfortunately likely fall because of this recent news.
