Oops: Georgia's Jaiden Fields fails to touch home plate after HR; Dawgs snap Oklahoma's win streak at 40 anyway
The Georgia Bulldogs are the No. 22 team in the latest softball rankings, but they faced a tough task on Tuesday as they took on No. 1 Oklahoma in a double-header.
The Sooners entered Game 1 of the double-header on a 40-game winning streak and have been dominant recently.
The Bulldogs didn’t do themselves any favors, as in the bottom of the 4th inning, Jaiden Fields (younger sister of Justin), missed home plate after hitting a home run:

The other run counted, but Fields was ruled out for missing the base. Oops.
Fortunately for the Bulldogs, they were able to hang on for a 7-6 victory, so the mistake didn’t cost them a win. In fact, Fields delivered the game-winning hit to complete the redemption narrative:

Now, Oklahoma’s winning streak has been snapped, and the Dawgs will try to send the Sooners out of Athens with a 2-game losing streak as Game 2 of the double-header is underway.
